India's Got Talent-go technovate!!

India has a dismal literacy rate of 61%,which is very low as compared to other developing countries in the world. It is also true that India has a large pool of doctors, engineers and technocrationsts who received education from country's premiere institutions but later went on to serve the biggies-USA and UK!

These figures are really worrying and compel a person to think as to how the education system works in INDIA.Govt. spends most of it's funds meant for education in developing infrastructure and providing facilities to ensure higher quality education(do't forget govt. spent crores of bucks recently in creation of new IITs,IIMs),in turn neglecting the need of basic education for the masses.Govt. is unable to provide even basic infrastructure for the numerous amount of schools they established for providing primary education. The people who enjoy subsidized higher education later go on to join MNCs or settle abroad or change their field altogether in lust of money.

It would be appropriate to term it as 'resource drain' rather than brain drain as huge amount of resources are spent to convert to a basic brain into a useful brain. There are millions of brains in India .It's just that we lack the resources to use them all!!And the limited resources that we have are spent on people who ultimately work for US of A and earn in dollars. The scarce resources are lost when they are used to train the brains that eventually migrate.

Although there seems no perfect solution, but certain measures can be taken to improve the situation. One such step can be providing quality primary education to masses at a very low cost(not to mention, govt. needs to seriously consider improving the infrastructure and level of education of most govt. schools).Price all higher education at full cost .and then give loan to students who need it.The loans should be repayable upon employment and in terms commensurate with the level of employment. Those who earn in dollars should pay back in dollars .Those who continue to serve the country may do that in small amount in rupees.

Essentially, this system might help in holding India's talent back and that might help in TECHNOVATING INDIA.
